OUR GARDENS
IN FEBRUARY
We
have prepared the ground to plant a row of fruit trees
against a fence at Jakeman School. Soft fruit bushes will grow
beside these.
Jakeman
School now has a trench of raspberry plants in the play area,
accessible to the children. We are growing onions, garlic, chard
and beans already in this area.
At
Tindal School we have planted garlic and broad beans
and forced some early rhubarb by putting a bucket over the
emerging shoots
With
the help of volunteers we have started planting tubs at 100 Mary St
with cabbage, spring onions, garlic and spinach. Our
container-grown leek and carrot crops have been good this
year.
The
broad beans planted in November are growing well!
Our
winter pruning work is now complete and we have even worked as a
team at renovating an old cooking apple tree in a member’s garden.
